The french government was bankrupt and King Luis called for the first Estate Meeting. The meeting was where all three estates of the government, the thrid estate, which covered about 98% of the population, the nobles which covered about 1% and the clergy which also covered around 1% were gathered to approve a new tax designed to help the economic situation that was happening in france. As a lawyer, it was manditory for me to come to the meeting. I was of course excited as I always was to start my job and to meet new powerful people. I hurried towards the room and managed to find a perfect first row seat. Just then, one person caught my eye. His name was Zinedine Zinedane. At first I did not recogniize him clearly, however, after a while I remmembered who he was. I met him once before in a case and because of him we actually won the case. We greeted each other like formal men and sat down.
We talked about the new tax and didn’t expect much about the decision. We had one commonality between us, that we disliked King Louis. Although we were rich, we did not like the fact that he bankrupted the country.
The room was a huge rooms with some glittereing colors of gold and there was a bustling and chattering of all the people. After the king managed to settle everyone down, the meeting began. It began like all the other meeting before, just the same formal entry and the openning. However, after a small discussion about the problem that was going on with our economy, the third estate started to gain the uperhand, unlike all the other meetings before.
The third estate, seemed to be influenced by the Enlightenment insisted that all three estates should meet together and that each delegate have a vote, giving an advantage to the third estate, which had as many delegates as the other two estates combined. A man called Emmanuel Joseph Sieyes lead the third estate. His speech was dramatic and influential, suggesting that the Third Estate delegates name themselves the “National Assembly”. Many members of the second and first estate went against this idea and there were some many violent actions that took place. People started to take sides between whether to go against this or go for this. However, the Nobles and the Clergy decided not to join in this meeting so that the third estate could not come up with a conclusion. I went along with the second and first estate and opposed this idea. Later on, I was wondering whethere or not the king and the other high officials will allow this to happen. As I was wondering, a newspaper soon came to my door. I looked at the front page and there was news that said that they had closed down the conference room so the third estate could not meet.
Back then, I thought that it was safe to say that things would have gone back to normal, however, unfortunately, it turned out that the third estate managed to find a new meeting place. This was the tennis court located near the orignial conference room. When I found out, I decided to invesitage and see how it was turning out by sneaking inside. It was a huge indoor tennis court, not a building that was glamourous and luxurious, however, one of those old ones that everybody uses. Inside, I saw a huge gathering crowd and heard many different commotions. As I was passing through the crowd, I heard many different conversations. I managed to gorge my self into a heated discussion between a few people about how the king was selfish and that he should be overthrown. They all thought the same way that I did, they all blamed King Luis XIV and they thought that the officials were doing a poor job collecting taxes and that the economy was going to get worse if king Luis stayed on the throne any longer.
I had to remind my self that I did not belong here, as I was a member of the second estate and I quitely tried to escape the room. Just then, all the people started shouting outside. I opened the door to see all the first and second estates coming towards the tennis court. I was confused about what was happening, just as much as all the other third estate people who had gathered. Then a man came up and told us that the king was thinking about using military forces to dismiss the National Assembly. I was scared and I quickly ran out of the door, and tried to run away. I saw men all gathering and attacking the kings soldiers and they gathered weapons to defend themselves against the attack. I did not know what to do, to help the king and the first and second estate, which I am a part of, or the new third estate who I have just met and shared many thoughts with.
Then, I saw that all the men were heading to the same place. I immediately knew where they were heading for. It was the bastille. The men gathered at the bastille and attacked the soldiers there. They siezed all the weapons and killed all the other soldiers. I still cannot think about how bloody the scene was. When the third estate clearly won, they raised their pikes and with the heads of soldiers, marched accross the street. Now, I am wondering and worrying about how serious this revolution will get and whethere it will end peacefully or with much more deaths. Journal Entry #2
Dear Diary, many days have passed since I have last written down anything, however, the past months have been full of amazing events. The first thing that comes up to my mind is the Decleration of the Rights of Man and the citizen. The decleration gives all citizens, male citizens to be precise, rights of their own. I was for this decleration when it was talked upon and I believed that the man who made this was a genius. Although the decleration gives no rights to the females, as they count as second class citizen, I cannot seem to care less. I do see that it is some what unfair for the females that they do not get such rights as man, however, we men are the more influencial and proper citizens. However, when the author Olympe de Gouges started a movement, I was not suprised to hear that it had failed. I was actually hoping that it would fail, because after I had thought about it, it would not benefit me and my other lawyers and friends. If the movement had passed then we would all be shamed as women might actually become lawyers one day and they might be in the same room with us, where they would count as proper citizens and not just people who watched them.
Well, with all the commotion about the decleration and how the womens rights are still denied, my friend lawers and I have had to celebrate at my house. As I was walking about the store to find supplies and food for the party, I have realized that my pocket watch was missing. I was shocked and terrified for that pocket watch had cost so much gold and it was a gift from his own father. I searched every where for it until I saw a women holding. I was infuriated when I saw that a woman, not just any woman, but one among the third estate, was holding my pocket watch. I immediately grabbed her by the hand and asked her what she was doing with it. When her friend, Barnadette Adéle told me that she had just picked it up from the ground, for fear of it being trampled upon, I immediately gave my apologies to the woman. She introduced herself as Sophie Landry and we had a small chat. However, as I was running late for the celebration, we hastly ended our conversation. I picked up only the finest and most expensive food and supplies that I could find, as it was manners to only buy the finest, for my friends.
When I got home, I let in all my guests and freinds into my house for a drink and some food. We were all talking about how the document will change things and about how it will affects our lives. Thinking about made my head ache and made me worried. I was imagining it the whole time that it would mean good things for me and that everything will be better, however, thinking about it now, makes me wonder if it will actually be the opposite. I am curious about the things to come later on and if this revolution will get any worse that it is right now.

Dear diary, the past couple of years have been very hard indeed. The revolution has killed many people, made our economy suffer tremendosly and now, my family and I are struggling to survive. When the revolution spread out, there was this one man who had taken control. His name was Napoleon Bonaparte. He was at first just a normal general, however, aftere he have prooved his skills in battles as a brilliant general, he became praised as a hero of france. His name was heard in all the streets that I have passed and all the good rumors about him seemed to be all true. He truly earned fame and fortune as he kept on winning in the battles in the years that came by. Out of all the men that I have met, I have never met anyone like him. Even though he was very tiny for a man, he seemed to be so proud of himself and that made him standout well. I knew at once, that this man was going to lead us through the revolution and help stop it.
Many tragic deaths and events happened. Once my wife and I were almost interogated and captured as being a spy and joining the king. It was Napoleon Bonaparte who came then, and gave his sincere appologies about their mistake. I, as a lawyer, have met many different people throughout the cases and have seen many different styles. Some try to conceal their emotions and thoughts by freezing their face into a solid mask, while others spill out all their worries by the looks on their faces. However, Napoleon had a style of his own. As if he had just won an award, he looked as proud and strong, even in these hard times.
In the year 1799, the Directory lost its authority of the political situation and the confidence of French citizens. Napoleon Bonaparte came back from Egypt during this time and was encouraged by his companions to take over political power. In November, Napoleon Bonaparte held the coup d’état of France. His army and he drove out almost every members of the national legislature and replaced the Directory with a group of three consuls. I was glad to hear that this horrible revolution was over and was glad that someone strong like Napoleon managed to become one of the three consuls. Ten years of battles went by and the revolution had ended.
Later on, we were all called upon to witness the vote of a new constitution. We were all eager to vote for Napoleon because he had so much power and was the hero of france. When the vote was done, it ended out that the constitution was passed by an overwhelming majority. After a few more years, Napoleon decided to try out for emporer. This was a big thing because, being the emperor gave him powers even over the church and therefore, we all had to choose wisely. However, once again the voters of Napoleon won in the vote and we were asked to come to the church and see Napoleon becoming the Emporer. I made it to the church quickly and gained a seat in the first row. The whole church was glorious, with pictures of jesus and god everywhere. Just then, Napoleon stepped out of nowhere and he walked towards the pope. The pope was carrying a golden crown and when Napoleon reached him, the pope officially made him emporer by putting the glittering crown on his head. There was a sudden burst of cheers as Napoleon became the emporer.
Sometimes I wonder how the revolution has changed me. Now that I look back upon the revolution, I think it changed me a great way. It has opened me to many new and unique experiences such as being interogated by people who I knew once, the same way that sometimes I interogated others in cases, was a true suprise. I will have never forget the face that Napoleon always wore, the same face that he wore when he marched to battle and the same face that he wore, when worrying about how to plan out his strategy. This war did affect me a little bit negetively, such as the fact that I lost some money, however, it did also affect me positively such as opening me to new experiences which I can use to my advantage in cases that I will attend years to come.
